Essential Serger Techniques
with Pamela Leggett from Pamela's Patterns
You can do a lot more with a serger than just finishing raw edges. Learn everything you need to know about using a serger during Day One with the Serger WorkShop. You will practice and build confidence in various serger functions by creating a resource notebook of samples and techniques, and see a variety of real-life applications used in garment construction. On Day Two, you will apply learned skills by creating two garments using Pamela's Patterns Modern Peignoir Ensemble. The robe or topper will look as good with jeans and a T‑shirt as it will for relaxing at bedtime, and the flowy no-side-seam pants/shorties work just as well for streetwear as they do for lounging.

Bonus Class Sept 8
T-Shirt Makeover - Redesign an Oversized T-Shirt with Pamela
A Note from Pamela: If you saw our previous emails and registration info, you saw that this event also included two classes: "Create Your Own One-Piece Swimsuit" and (bonus class) "Fashion Illustration." Despite our best efforts, there was not enough interest to bring the instructor, Tommie Hernandez, in from Puerto Rico. Please let me know if you are interested, and we will do our best to try this again next Spring!

#127 Modern Peignoir Ensemble
Combine a gorgeous robe and flowy pants for a nighttime ensemble too pretty to wear just for bed.
The robe or topper will look as good with jeans and a T‑shirt as it will for relaxing at bedtime. Made entirely on the serger, it features a front band, tie belt, drop shoulder and wide "faux" cuffs. 4‑thread seaming, secured ends, unique straight hemming, and belt points will all be shown – skills that will translate handily into future projects.
The flowy no-side-seam pants have many possibilities. Leave them wide at the hem or turn them into a jogger-style hem. The waist is a comfy elastic and can be made with or without a ruffly top edging. Cut them shorter, and you have adorable "shorties"! Made with a serger and a sewing machine, you won’t believe how fast these go together. And who says you can’t make them into daytime beachy pants? Nobody!

Meet Pamela
I have had the unique opportunity to work with hundreds of women over the years to help them achieve a good fit from commercial patterns. While doing this, I found that many of the pattern adjustments we were doing were consistent for the majority of women. As a result, the patterns have been designed to reflect these common changes, resulting in less changes to the pattern and garment during the construction process. Commercial patterns go through a computer drafting program that doesn't allow for these common changes to be made. Pamela's Patterns are hand drafted with many prototypes before they go into production. I hope you enjoy these patterns as much as I enjoyed making them!
